name: w'lamber tia ; lamber of the wolves; the mad howler ; formerly r'lambha tia
age: 23 (by the beginning of the events of ARR)

general notes:
- pretty decent with an axe and a greatsword
- incredibly physically resilient
- blind in his right eye, due to head trauma damaging the optic nerve. it can 'see' light or dark, but that's about all
- lots of scarring. most recent is from gladiator fights, older is from fending off animal attacks and so forth
- only has the most basic literacy, so he relies on bullying moogles and passersby to read his mail for him and will usually have to read things out loud as he goes.
- great fighter, great dancer, good drinker
- a culinary crime against humanity. he can cook things on sticks, that's about it
- used to love being out on open water, now has a slight phobia of it which he's responding to in a typical lamber way: brute forcing his way through the fear anyway.

backstory:

- born in the desert in [region i'll decide later]
- [ insert tribe stuff here when that's more fleshed out ]
- trained and raised to fight with axe, spear, sword, and claw from a young age
- when he was 16, wanderlust bit and the unspoken expectation that he would eventually challenge another tribe's nunh prompted r'lhamba to leave his tribe.

[somehow ends up in limsa idek]

- unfortunately, living a mildly sheltered life meant he wasn't too equipped to head out there, and hewound up getting picked up by the runninglight, a limsa-based ship. the crew called themselves the [wharf wolves/sea howlers/something something] and were aspiring treasure hunters
- dehydrated, exhausted, and half-starved, he slurred his name and got it further mispronounced bc regional limsa drawl and it just stuck after he recovered
- was initially pretty terrible on the water, but learned his way around a ship and swimming surprisingly quick
- during the calamity, their ship got wiped out while it was doing civilian evac/support ops. r'lhamba was the only survivor.
- got marooned somewhere with the wreckage. got washed into a cave with a treasure including a warrior soulstone(!!!) and he broke out by unleashing his inner beast

- lost vision in his right eye due to a combination of getting knocked around and the wounds he sustained

- couldn't stand being around open water and limsa for a while after that so he went to ul'dah to take up gladiatoring

- he renames himself w'lamber ('lamber of the wolves') in honor of his dead crew but ended up getting nicknamed the mad howler instead

- threw himself into the bloodsands banking on berserker rage to forget ~the pain of his past~
- incidentally, he's not a very good fighter either when he tunnels like that (the initial period of adjusting to the loss of one eye didnt help) but he wins a lot of fights by brute forcing it and basically ignoring all injuries.

- one night after a rage/drink bender, he stumbles into and passes out in itinerant alchemist khildorel uskglaux's garden. when he wakes up, starving, he ends up eating up most of it

- this is how he meets khil, who isn't at all thrilled. in the ensuing argument [ they get thrown in jail/lamber punches a dude/breaks them out of jail]

- in any case, they end up having to scoot out of ul'dah and take up a life of itinerant treasure hunting/mercenary work for a few months.

- [ luck out and find some treasure? ]

- started a free company in the hopes of making his old fc's dreams come true

- also, treasure and stuff is good

- this is also why he crafts so doggedly

other nonsense:
- met faith when he was trying to learn how to craft, maelstrom command referred him to her as one of their top crafters who'd moved on
- dragged n'yans into being part of the free company when he caught him snooping around

Gladiator Stuff:
Coliseum Terminology
"The Coliseum" - the name of the Gladiators' Guild.
"The Bloodsands" - the name of the circle in the middle of the floor on which the Gladiators fight.
"The Hypogeum" - the arena itself, which includes not only the Bloodsands, but the stands and boxes in which the audience sits as well.
"Gladiator" - specifically refers to a Bloodsands fighter or Coliseum-trained fighter. Gladiators do not technically have to use shield and sword. Some combatants fight with axes, spears, bows, or whatever. They are all still Gladiators. So, not every person you see running around with a sword is a "Gladiator" despite what the class infers. These non-Coliseum-trained fighters are just Swordsmen.
"Lanista" - Trainer of Gladiators. Every Gladiator or team of Gladiators has one.
"Noxius" - a slave fighter. Ul'dah gives all of its prisoners the option to fight on the Bloodsands to try to earn enough prize money to buy their freedom. People who chose to do this (at their own risk) are called Noxius.

There are three types of matches.
1) Gladiator vs Gladiator
2) Gladiator vs Noxius
3) Gladiator vs Beast
